One reduction included in the coalition Government's recently announced budget cuts was the removal of the mobility allowance part of Disability Living Allowance for adult disabled people living in residential care.
Without mobility payments, getting out of the house for even simple things like socialising or going to the library will be impossible for some disabled people, and their quality of life will be severly affected, in exchange for a relatively tiny sum of money being saved.
This is part of the Chancellor's proposed budget cuts and is not yet law. So there is still time to try and make Parliament change their minds on this!

What can you do to help stop these cuts??

Here is a suggestion for what you can say to your MP:

Dear [Please insert your MP's name]

The recent spending review included a proposed cutting of Mobility Allowance for disabled adults in residential homes. This is unfair and would result in a severe reduction in quality of life for some of the most vulnerable and economically deprived people in the UK, in exchange for a relatively small sum of money saved. Please stand up for disabled people in your constituency and across the country, and ask the Treasury not to cut this essential funding.

I look forward to receiving your reply,

Yours sincerely,
